Standing against early childhood death due to inadequate medical support

Who is N'daye Fatou?

N'daye Fatou Foundation was birthed out of a heart of pain. N'daye Fatou was a 4 year old girl who lived a life no child should experience. N'daye Fatou was my little and I would like to share her story with hopes you too, would join join the fight against early childhood mortality due medical supply shortage.

At 4 years, N'daye Fatou was diagnosed with a Kidney tumor. I was young then, but I remember watching my mom do everything in her power to make sure my sister was receiving all the care and treatment, I watched my mom suffer heartache as she watched her little daughter experience pain no child should endure.

Finally the day of surgery came, everything went as it was intended to go, surgically. But as the day proceeded, there was a shortage of oxygen tanks in the hospital, so they took my sister's oxygen tank for another patient before she gained breathing control. Shortly after, within 15 minutes, we watched my sister go into a coma. When she came out of the coma, she had lost the majority of her brain function. She never spoke again, she never walked again, she showed no response to speech or vocal commands again until the day she passed away.

That is the story of N'daye Fatou, my late little sister.

Why a foundation?

Over the years I have always felt powerless when I remember what happened to my sister. I move to the United States with my family, furthered my education and now I am practicing Licensed Practical Nurse.

With my education and position, I have now learned there is some tragedies in this world that can be prevented. N'daye Fatou Foundation is a step in that direction. Why go through the trouble of forming my own organization? As most people would rightly ask. I have been involved in cancer support initiatives, fund raising programs, and events for years. I have always felt compelled to do something in honor my late sister. But recently, I felt it wasn't enough, all the things I was doing was going to programs that were supporting families here in the US, I started asking myself what about the families back home?

N'daye Fatou Foundation was an idea that arose as an answer to those questions. I still support and encourage people to help the foundations here in the US but in addition, I pray that you will join me in not only raising awareness of the avoidable challenges and tragedies but also come along with me in finding ways to provide support in any little way that we can. Til this day, I still remember the look of pain I saw on my mother's face when my sister passed, knowing that it could have been avoided.

About the Foundation

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Leo Buscaglia

Many children in the past 25 years have passed away due to the same issue, shortage of medical supplies and proper medical support.

Many families miss out on medical care due because they are not able to afford the costs.  Your monetary donation will be directed to such needs in order for the children to acquire adequate medical care.
